BAND ANNOUNCES FALL TOUR ALREADY ON THE BOOKS

RITUAL PROMO ITM 2017

IN THIS MOMENT will remain incredibly busy upon releasing their new album Ritual, out July 21. The band is currently in the middle of a headline tour in support of the album and will stay on the road through the rest of 2017.

IN THIS MOMENT are pleased to announce that they will continue their wildly successfully "Half God, Half Devil" headline tour this fall, which will also see them making appearances at major fall festivals. Joining IN THIS MOMENT on this leg will be OF MICE & MEN, who will serve as direct support. AVATAR will open the shows.

The tour kicks of on September 22 in Salt Lake City and runs through November. Fans can also plan to catch "can't miss" sets at festivals: Rock Allegiance (Philadelphia), Louder Than Life (Louisville), Open Air (Houston), and Aftershock (Sacramento).

The anticipation for Ritual continues to burn at a fevered pitch, with fans packing each show on the current tour. First single "Oh Lord" has been met with praise. It steadily climbed the radio charts and has just cracked the Top 10; watch the video here. The band also shared the new track "Roots" leading into release; listen to the song here.

IN THIS MOMENT also dropped their sonically arresting and dramatic reimagining of PHIL COLLINS' beloved '80s classic "In the Air Tonight," which lives on Ritual and has been incorporated into the band's live set. IN THIS MOMENT have truly made the song their own, thanks to a captivating rendition that both preserves and updates all the tension and release of the original. Listen here.

Ritual will be released by Atlantic Records in partnership with Roadrunner Records and is available for pre-order now. Exclusive pre-order bundles, which include custom IN THIS MOMENT branded rosary beads, are available now at the band's webstore.

Ritual sees IN THIS MOMENT pushing their inimitably dark sound forward with a provocative sense of pervading doom and metallic blues power. Additional highlights include "Black Wedding," a walk down the aisle of musical madness that sees lead singer MARIA BRINK sharing the mic with legendary JUDAS PRIEST frontman ROB HALFORD.

Vocalist Daniel Tompkins explains the lyrical concept and inspiration behind the SMILE., saying, "Lyrically, 'Smile' carries a strong and forward sense of irony as we explore and darkest side of the human condition. The song will witness the manifestation of an 'entity.' Consciousness survives through constant manipulation only to propagate pessimism and hopelessness. Our entity observes, consumes and evolves, bearing witness to human existence, mimicking our presence in colossal form."

Canadian post-rock/doom four-piece LOVIATAR (pronounced low-vye-ah-tar)'s new self-titled album features two monolithic tracks: the aforementioned "Stygian Wyrm" (broken down into three parts for the digital release) and "Blind Goddess of the Nine Plagues". THE REVIVAL OF THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY

LED BY RPWL & COMPANY

RPWL1 RonnyOlejak smallRPWL is the German progressive rock band that before today, I had not heard of. All hail the power of the internet! RPWL is an acronym for the member’s last names (Phil Paul Rissetto, Chris Postl, Karlheinz Wallner, and Yogi Lang) and I bring that up at the beginning so that you won’t be distracted during the review with what RPWL stands for lurking around in your mind. (I speak from experience, you’re welcome!)

So if you’re familiar with the way that I do things like reviews, go ahead and skip to the next paragraph. If you’re not, then continue reading. I mention this here because it serves a purpose; not because I need to write a paragraph about myself. Most of the time, I’m a scattered mess and my day is filled with flitting from project to project like a moth. To the point of this paragraph, and to new readers, I rarely do any research about a band I’m about to either review or interview besides what is given to me in a Press Release. I mean, I would if what I was writing about called for me to do so. But for the most part, I like the element of surprise associated with not knowing much when I hear new music. I think it is pretty self explanatory, but if you don’t get it, the connections that I get are totally randomized by the Universe. With little outside influences to get in the way of how I perceive what I’m about to hear I think makes a review honest and unbiased. You picking up what I’m putting down?

After reading an email inquiring if I was reviewing RPWL’s newest release, I followed the link in that email to what I thought was going to be a stream of an album that I could listen to while wrapping up a few other items. To my surprise, it was a video. Confused, I referred back to the Press Release (here’s where the above paragraph comes in handy) and see that this was a video of the band’s home performance in Freising, Bavaria:

It documents the last stop of the tour in support of the “Wanted” album and that evening the Bavarians played in their hometown of Freising, Bavaria in October 2015. The show is an elaborately assembled combination of elements of a rock concert, a multimedia event and a play. This was the first and only time that the mammoth-production was brought to the stage. In addition to the musicians themselves the cast comprised around fifty actors and extras.

Say what? I think the first 44 minutes passed as I watched and listened, somewhat confused but not in a bad way. I think I actually said out loud, “WTF is this?”. From the fake news report at the beginning fused into the TVs and LED screens at the back of stage, to the band obviously playing live music, to the Crusaders marching in chasing the modern fugitives poised in the plot, to the Shakespearean narrator wearing a mask and the “Wanted” men fleeing police, to the priest coming onstage - what is this I am watching?

Are these people the Pleiadians? They are, aren’t they? RPWL is really some code for aliens, alien musicians. I knew that I would be given confirmation sooner or later - here it is. Right in front of my eyes. Then I hear this lyric:

“Only love can be the way to bring you closer to being the self you are...”

Should I turn it off and pretend I didn’t just hear his secret? I mean we’re talking about the secret that humanity is looking for. I don’t know if I should throw down my pen, rip up my notebook and go back to being blind to everything like I was before or rise up with these familiar strangers and take to the streets, holding a jam box above my head and walk around blaring this song for all to hear.

Now, this is all I’m going to give you guys about the DVD itself. I’m not going to give you a play by play like I normally do with each track. Even though this production is a combination of the band’s last two releases, and the story is probably evident to fans, I want you to watch it and gain from it what you need or what the Universe wants you to feel and know.

But that doesn’t mean my review is over. No way can I do a one page review - ha! There’s still a bit more to talk about. I will tell you that the music is f’ing phenomenal. YOGI LANG’s voice is haunting throughout the entire show and is smooth like silk draped over the instrumentation of the performance. I thought the whole time that he sounded like either Roger Waters or David Gilmour of PINK FLOYD and as it turns out in reading some of the band’s history, they began as a PINK FLOYD tribute band.

MARKUS JEHLE behind his keyboards cooks up mesmerizing sounds as he twists nobs, pushes petals and tickles the keys - he is incredible! KALLE WALLNER plays the guitar like it is an extension of what he feels or what he is trying to convey through the music and you can understand what he’s playing just like reading or listening to someone speak. MARC TURIAUX consistently delivers percussively by popping in the beats and regulating the tempos that move the musical and move the audience, literally because you can see their heads keeping time with the beat throughout the whole performance. The bass gives so much underlying energy to the score, WERNER TAUS delivers intricacies that almost make you forget he’s playing the bass. There are times when what he is playing almost becomes another melody within the song that lifts up the rest of the instruments within the heavy lows.

With additional musicians and singers in this production, it would be totally unfair to leave them out and while I didn’t note their names from the credits, they’re there and they lend to a very full rendering in the composition of the music. Good god I must mention the female backup singers! Holy Hallelujah Chorus they are good. The last song of the performance, the dark brown haired woman sings so majestically, I couldn’t believe I was moved by a series of crescendo/decrescendo “ahhs” only. I probably would have made a spectacle of myself had I seen her live.

RPWL3 RonnyOlejak smallThe theatrics of the show melted with wisps of technology are balanced by the narrator character appearing and reappearing between songs delivering lines of prose that you have to pay attention to just as much as you would a lyric during a song were just as poignant as the lyrics. I loved his performance.

Within the two hours viewers will find a few things that normally would not fit in a live musical rock show, but something would be missing if they were absent from A New Dawn like an actual sword fight, a life sized puppet brought to life by two puppeteers and handing drugs out to the audience for them to take simultaneously. Kidding, there wasn’t a cue to take them. But Veritas Forte, the drug that the fugitives were, in part running from authorities for giving out via an infomercial (totally serious) was given to the audience (really, they hand out these pills to the audience and they eat them). Veritas Forte is a pill that opens your mind and frees your imprisoned self, releasing you into living with the Truth. Damn it! I want to take one of these Veritas Forte pills! Set me free damnit!! Now, I started to think when they were handing out Veritas Forte, if I were in the audience, would I question actually eating this? I saw people put them in their mouths and eat them. My mind wandered a bit further to ask, “Was this real? Could this show be the beginning of the infiltration of the revolution of mankind?” And if so, why the F can’t we all have one? (I find out later that we can have one - they’ll send you a Veritas Forte by selecting the fan package when ordering the DVD. Cha-ching!! You’ll also get a poster and some other cool stuff, so look into that, ok?) I made a note in my book, “this better not lead to us (humanity) having to just make a choice to be free. It’s going to take a GD pill for some people to swallow because they won’t be able to make a choice like this for themselves.”

I love seeing instruments that you don’t normally see live. A New Dawn had the scimitar, a steel tongue drum, and a keyboard with a control panel brought unique sounds to the score. The sword fight was awesome and while it was staged, the two fighting seemed to be true swordsmen and knew what they were doing. All of these little elements just gave the show that much more of a cool factor. Leave it to the prog rockers, right?

RPWL takes the invisible elements of rock music, personifies them, gives them a cause and a purpose and become the heroes that humanity is desperately looking for. I KNEW it!! I knew one day this would happen. Leave it to the Bavarians/Germans to take rock to an entirely new level.

Look, it is no secret that humans are going through some kind of evolutionary change (that or we are part of the Matrix and they’re restting some of the major programming). RPWL gives us a solution (and a pill as it turns out) to re-enter the human race. By disbelieving what we are forced to believe we free ourselves to the reality of universal truths. What I got from this show was quite invaluable and something I’d never thought of; by the conditioning set forth for 2017 years that we are sinners and need forgiveness, we are in fact chained to those that may tell us things to control us. That the gods before The God were just as real to humanity as The God now is. I felt this point resonate within the inner workings of my bones and my being.

Unless I was hypnotized or a spell was cast upon me, the remaining hour and 16 minutes were spent vacillating between reality and what A New Dawn is telling us, me. Humanity is broken. We live in a constant state of fear fueled by what we see and hear in our communities and worldwide and maybe this is the beginning of the Age of Awakening spawned by music and creation of things like A New Dawn.

RPWL2 RonnyOlejak small
The cast comes out and I realize that I just saw an epic performance and as the fog from the smoke machine clears the air, I see the members of a band on stage, not celestial beings set to guide humanity of a journey. The masked man comes out and he is just a man playing a character, not Father Time or a Universal Representative from an extraterrestrial council. I remembered that I chose to clink on the link to watch (even though I didn’t know I would be watching something that has the potential to be the catalyst for the upheaval of the human race) and the people in the audience chose to buy a ticket and go to the show. We weren’t sucked up by a wormhole taking a breath. That those in the audience would walk out and go back to their lives forgetting about the people they sat near sharing what could be a spiritual experience. They will go back to those that are still asleep, continuing to believe in things that keep them asleep by daily doses of bullshit.

Finally!! At last, the culmination of my favorite things had come together! The theatre, musicals, Shakespeare, and rock music (great rock music, in fact, the music was so well composed, I think Strauss or Wagner have made an appearance via reincarnation) were all right in front of my face. These Bavarian progressive rockers, who I’d never heard of remember, had just given me a kick ass present or rephrased; a kick in the ass to the present.

Just as the credits begin rolling and the last of those thoughts described above were rolling in my mind, I realized that those cynical thoughts came from the Fearful Version of Cherri that existed before I experienced A New Dawn. And it was my choice to remain cynical and jaded or choose to stay awake. It’s really easy to just tuck away what I experienced as I watched A New Dawn and chalk it up to a moving and life changing performance. Personally for me, it was hard to ignore the blatant neon sign that I was seeing blinking in front of me, as a man in a mask stood below it screaming in slow motion, “you are on the right path...”. This is my truth taken from my interpretation of the music, the production and the messages within the show.

Alas, that is a story for another time, my Pretties. I’ve run out of steam and frankly, this review is long AF. I’m sure only a few readers made it to the end of this long, babbling brook of a story. But if you did...then you now have even more information to grab the keys of the Universe. Get this DVD and be a part of The Revival of the 21st Century and let RPWL’s A New Dawn shine down on you.

I'll have more from RPWL with interviews from members of the band and more! In the meantime, watch the trailer below and mark July 14th on your calendars to purchase this DVD:

TESSERACT RELEASE "SMILE" – THE NEW SINGLE & LYRIC VIDEO

BAND BEGIN NORTH AMERICA TOUR WITH MEGADETH + MESHUGGAH

tesseract

To coincide with TesseracT starting their North America live dates with MEGADETH and MESHUGGAH, today the band have released a brand new single and lyric video for the song "Smile." Listen to the song here.

The song can be purchased or streamed here.

Vocalist DANIEL TOMPKINS explains the lyrical concept and inspiration behind the song, saying, "Lyrically, 'Smile' carries a strong and forward sense of irony as we explore and darkest side of the human condition. The song will witness the manifestation of an 'entity.' Consciousness survives through constant manipulation only to propagate pessimism and hopelessness. Our entity observes, consumes and evolves, bearing witness to human existence, mimicking our presence in colossal form."

Recorded at both 4D SOUND STUDIOS, Brighton and CELESTIAL SOUND STUDIOS, Notts UK and produced by ACLE KAHNEY during late spring this year "Smile," described by the band as their most collaborative track of recent times, here, the vocals play a key part in shaping the structure of the song, the bass shaping the verses, so, allowing the band to explore new perspectives.

Bassist AMOS WILLIAMS explains further, "We chose this track as although it is part of a greater theme, and is in fact towards the end of a story arc, it stands alone very well. We have a solid idea of where we would like to take this track on the next album as it is in no way finished. It is merely one step in a journey.

"The verses and choruses stand very far apart from each other. There is a tension we wished to build through a minimalist approach, with small phrases that repeat against accompanying parts of different lengths. These undulate, seemingly getting lost against the nonconventional phrasing of the drums. All this is nothing new to TesseracT fans, but this time we have looked to really align the lyrical and musical messages."

After building up a rabid and loyal fanbase across North America with their previous tours with the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, GOJIRA and multiple headline runs the band are stateside again for a monumental tour with MEGADETH and MESHUGGAH.

Guitarist JAMES MONTEITH enthusiastically comments, "We couldn't be more excited about going back to the US, the shows are always amazing out there and the fans are some of our most enthusiastic and loyal. There's also the added bonus of touring with two of the most important metal bands ever! Megadeth and Meshuggah are major boundary pushers in the genre and we're massive fans of them both, so it's a real honour to share a stage with them. And not to forget Lilake who are doing some cool things too, so all in all, it's going to be the highlight of our year."

Beginning in Big Flats, New York on Friday, June 23, the tour takes the band through Massachusetts, Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and ending in Pennsylvania on July 11. TesseracT will also be performing at Amnesia Festival, Montebello, Canada on June 24, as well as a series of headline shows in Indianapolis, Nashville, Memphis, Buffalo and Amityville. PENNYMADE RELEASED AS SECOND SINGLE

Nashville, TN based, Hard Rock Band HOGAN'S GOAT has released the second single, Pennymade, off of their debut, self-titled album, due out July 18th, HOGAN'S GOAT was self-produced, mixed by Alex Gilson and Nathan Zensen at Gold Cassette and mastered by TOMMY DORSEY.

ABOUT THE BAND: Named after a tale from Scottish folklore, the band initially formed in late 2014. As the story goes, a farmer (Hogan) owned a goat rumored to have an odor said to travel miles away. The goat's been described as having patchy fur, an eye out of socket, and flies abound . For the band, this perfectly symbolized their unorthodox style, that which is anything but unnoticeable.

Their first show (at SXSW, on the rooftop of The Blind Pig) was part of an all Nashville (non-country) showcase. Soon after, HOGANS GOAT returned to Nashville, competed in BMI's "Road To Bonnaroo" (winning the fan vote) and played many other shows around the Nashville area. In March of 2016, Hogan's Goat began recording their first LP, "Hogan's Goat" which is set to release July 18th, 2017. The band looks to tour regionally, nationally, and globally.
